Biography

I completed my bachelor’s studies in Mathematics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2014. In 2018 I completed my Master studies in Astronomy and Astrophysics at KU Leuven, Belgium. The topic of my master thesis was ‘’“A review of Kelvin-Helmholtz instability and the kinetic effects on the magnetopause of planet Mercury”. Afterward, I had the opportunity to work on research projects in Laser Wakefield Acceleration using Particle in Cell codes and also in nuclear physics for the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission in Karlsruhe.

I am currently working at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany at the Institute of Technical Physics (ITEP) and the Institute for Beam Physics and Technology (IBPT) on Machine Learning based accelerator tuning with the use of optimization methods. I am part of the ‘’Real Time System Integration’’ group and the goal of my project is to  research energy sustainable and resilient solutions for accelerators to reduce their carbon footprint.
