Project objective
Development of a grid-integrated, modular energy storage system, whereby different storage technologies can be combined on a modular basis depending on the application-specific requirements. In addition to the optimal combination of storage systems, the focus is on their service life-optimized operation.
As a modular multilevel converter (MMC), MMCs have decisive advantages over other converter topologies in terms of grid behavior on the AC and DC side (e.g. low grid perturbations, filterless operation, avoidance of resonances, non-critical fault behavior).
Due to their structure, MMCs offer a wide range of possibilities for coupling energy storage systems (e.g. batteries, supercapacitors), energy generators (e.g. photovoltaics) and consumers.
