Unit: Superconductivity
Superconductors are materials with special electrical and magnetic properties. They are already being used as standard equipment to generate high magnetic fields in magnetic resonance imaging equipment and accelerator magnets. Superconducting magnet technology is also used in nuclear fusion plants.
Due to the excellent energy efficiency compared to conventional materials, the Institute for Technical Physics is developing high-temperature superconductors for commercial use in energy transport, energy storage and energy conversion.
